ÿþ<html> <head> <title>June 21, 2011</title> <body> Southwest Coalition for Substance Abuse Issues <p>June 21, 2011 Meeting Minutes</p> <p>Present: Cherry Powell, Jan Moore, Tamara Santangelo, Pam Davis, Mary Egan, Robert Snipes, Jim Russell, Scott Miller, Krishna Head, Deb Brozewski, Bob Sullivan, Tim Cramer, Mardi Wunderlich. Secretary s Report: Marcia was not present for the meeting. The membership raised concerns about members not checking the website to see the minutes. One member missed a whole year s of meetings because he/she never knew where the meetings were. It was decided to ask the Secretary to email the minutes to all members via an attachment. It was also decided to extend a free year of membership to the member who missed all the meetings. Treasurer s Report: Jim passed around the Treasurer s Report, dated 6/21/11. The current balance is $5479.77. This includes $500.00 that is reserved for the Rally  Round Recovery. Robert Snipes suggested that a budget subcommittee be formed to establish a budget for the next fiscal year. Members of this subcommittee will include Jim Russell, Pam Davis and Joannie Leigh. Education Report: Cherry passed around an updated schedule of meetings. Jim advised members that attendees rated our 2011 Spring Conference  excellent. They thought the speaker was great. They wished it had been a 2-day conference. They complained about the  close quarters , and inability to set their plates down to eat. Advocacy Report: No report.</p> <p>Membership: Jim Russell reported that Morris Hospital recently joined the Southwest Coalition. Cherry Powell stated that Kelly Bentenhausen would be joining from District 204. She also said that Brian Kirk and John Roberts have submitted dues and will be representing HERO. Heroin Project: Tim Cramer advised that focus group data will be presented at the IAODAPCA conference. Scholarship: The applications are circulated in December, collected in January and the scholarship is awarded in February. New Business: On the motion of Mardi Wunderlich, second by Robert Snipes, the membership elected Robert Snipes, President, Tammy Santangelo, Vice President; and Jim Russell, Treasurer.</p> <p>Although Marcia had previously agreed to continue as Secretary if no-one else stepped up to the plate, Deb Brozewski advised members that she would be willing to serve as Secretary. On the motion of Robert Snipes and second by Mary Egan, the membership voted to elect Deb Brozewski as Secretary. Miscellaneous: Tammy Santangelo advised that our website lists her Agency as the Traffic School of Behavioral Change. It should be Behavior Change. Cherry will contact Antoinette to notify her of the correction. Robert Snipes distributed the Coalition s yearly calendar of activities. He also passed out Rally  Round Recovery buttons so that members can start promoting the event scheduled for September 17th. There will be a resource fair at the Rally. If you want to have a booth, call Stepping Stones and ask for Catherine. Stepping Stones will provide the table and chairs. Booth-holders are required to have a basket or appropriate item to raffle.
