Southwest Coalition Meeting

October 18, 2011

Members in attendance: Bob Sullivan, Carolyn Glover, Cherry Powell, Dave Raskowski, Deb Brozewski, Erica Sidenstick, Erika Schultz, Jamelia Hand, Jim Russell, Joan Leigh, Kathryn Wiedman, Kimberly Haynes, Laura Lorenz, Lisa Snipes, Mardi Wunderlich, Mary Egan, Pam Davis, Paul Lauridsen, Robert Snipes, Sarah Sheets, Tim Cramer, Tula Beene, Sandra Fletcher

Treasurer’s report- Jim passed around treasurer’s report dated 10/18/11. Donation to Braidwood made and balance was given to Stepping Stones for Rally. Total balance in treasury is 3931.25. It was noted that several agencies have paid their dues this past month. Approval passed by Mardi 1st, Joan 2nd.

Advocacy report- Discussion of funding being reduced by approximately 30 million for both treatment and prevention. Efforts are underway to restore funds. It was suggested that individuals talk to state representatives in an effort to restore funds. A further discussion began regarding Medicaid individuals enrolling with managed care companies by 2014.

Education report- Cherry passed around calendar of trainings. CEU’s have been approved through March 2012. A discussion began regarding possible speakers for Spring Conference. Committee will meet to discuss possible trainings and present at next meeting. Presenter came in support of Mental Health First Aid training. Jim discussed he will obtain a list of possible presentations and bring information to next meeting.

Membership committee- two outstanding agencies have not paid dues. A discussion began to discuss development of a form letter to use for obtaining new membership.

Committee membership- the new committee membership is as follows:

Community Legislative Forum: members are Paul Lauridsen, Joannie Leigh, Kathryn Wiedman, Lisa Snipes, Tim Cramer, and Tula Beene.

Donations: members are Jim Russell, Larry Dunbar, Joannie Leigh, Erika Schultz, and Jamelia Hand.

Education: members are Cherry Powell, Pam Davis, Jan Moore, Jim Russell, Mardi Wunderlich, and Dan Kalnil.

Nominating: TBA

Rally Round Recovery: members are Paul Lauridsen, Robert Snipes, Cherry Powell, Maria Herrera, Kathryn Wiedman, and Jamelia Hand.

Membership: members are Jim Russell, Mary Egan, David Raskowski, Kimberly Haynes, and Jamelia Hand.

Community Forums- Robert Crown Center will be conducting their forum at 7pm at Midwest University.

Motion to Change Mission- Motion to change mission to reflect new language was approved. Jim 1st, Cherry 2nd. Motion approved.
